Philippines Asiga River small-scale hydroelectric plant - Japanese manufacturer to procure water turbine generators

The Japanese manufacturer Voith Fuji Hydro K. K. (“Voith Fuji”) is to procure water turbine generators for the 8 MW Asiga River small-scale hydroelectric plant in the province of Agusan del Norte on Mindanao Island. The project is now being implemented by the special-purpose company (SPC) Asiga Green Energy Corporation (“AGEC”), which was establised by Chodai Co., Ltd. and Equi-Parco Construction Company, the largest general contractor on Mindanao Island (headquartered in Butuan City on the island), as well as two other Filipino companies.

 

On December 6th, Mr. Akinori Ido, Senior Executive Director at Chodai, Mr. Ronnie Vicente Lagnada, Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Equi-Parco and representative for AGEC, and Mr. Masayoshi Nakai, overseas sales manager at Voith Fuji, signed the procurement contract for water turbine generators for the 8 MW Asiga River small-scale hydroelectric plant. The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), which has provided support for the project in fiscal year 2011 under the “Infrastructure System Acquisition Assistive Technology Cooperation” scheme, was also represented by Policy Planning Director Mr. Tadashi Sugawara.

 

The main specifications of the contracted water turbine generators are as follows:

 Rated net head: 108.44 m

 Rated discharge: 9.0 m3/sec (4.5 m3/sec/unit)
