MOU signed with Quang Ninh Province Department of Natural Resources and Environment in Vietnam

On October 2nd, Chodai Co., Ltd. signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Quang Ninh Province Department of Natural Resources and Environment and Seiwa Denko Co., Ltd. to jointly carry out a feasibility study and pilot study towards implementation under the “Fiscal Year 2013 Outsourcing Costs for Official Development Assistance Overseas Economic Cooperation Projects” scheme and commercialization of ODA projects.

The lavish 2-hour MOU signing ceremony, which began at 9 o’clock at the Quang Ninh Province Department of Natural Resources and Environment in Ha Long city, was attended by over 100 people including Mr. Do Thong, the Standing Vice Chairman of Quang Ninh People’s Committee, all department heads and the deputy mayor of Ha Long city. The MOU was signed by Mr. Akinori Ido, Senior Executive Director of the Business Promotion Division at Chodai, Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, Chairman of the Quang Ninh Province Department of Natural Resources and Environment, and Mr. Toshihiro Kitsui, President of Seiwa Denko. “UNESCO included Ha Long Bay on its World Natural Heritage Site list first in 1994 and then again in 2000 to show mankind’s responsibility for the preservation of Ha Long Bay. Introducing reliable Japanese products suitable for the Vietnamese culture and environment is consistent with the policies of Quang Ninh Province, and we will do our best to cooperate on future surveys and verification tests”, Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong said in his speech, adding that the project will be supported in order to meet high local expectations.

The afternoon continued with a kick-off meeting where Vietnamese and Japanese officials discussed the survey contents, schedule and commercialization process, and a lively exchange of views took place. It was consequently agreed to establish a Special Working Group for the project under the auspices of Quang Ninh province to create an organization to help with the smooth implementation of the survey.
