We have entered an agreement with LUANGPASEUTH CORPORATION (hereinafter, LCC), a general contractor headquartered in Vientiane in Lao PDR, to cooperate to work on multiple infrastructure development projects (Lao PDR Regional Development CSV project) in Luang Namtha province, northern region of Lao PDR which borders both China and Myanmar.
Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), we have agreed to collaborate with LCC in multiple infrastructure development projects that will contribute to the development of SDGs in Lao PDR by leveraging each company's respective strengths (LCC: developer of multiple infrastructure projects in Laos which will also contribute to the development of SDGs, Chodai: provider of high-quality Japanese engineering and financing service, including investment to support the development of the SDGs).
There has been a need for sustainable development using local natural resources in Luang Namtha province, one of the poorest areas in Lao PDR, a poor country in Southeast Asia. The province contains Nam Ha forest, one of the largest forest conservation areas in the country and contains 17 diverse ethnic minorities. We have signed a comprehensive MOU with LCC to study and develop multiple businesses including the Namtha Culture Park, Nam Long hydropower project, highway, logistics hub.
We will continue to expand our business in Luang Namtha in Lao PDR which has a great development potential that can significantly contribute to the SDGs. We are aiming to make a strong contribution to the economic development of Lao PDR, antecedently in Luang Namtha province and its surrounding areas by playing the role of being the liaison between Japan and other Japanese companies and maximizing the opportunities for participation of the various Japanese government agencies and private companies.
